I am sharing an appeal for critical Orange County, CA nursing staffing from Paul Leon, Public Health Nurse, CEO, Illumination Foundation (https://www.ifhomeless.org/). He writes:
I hope you are well and staying healthy and safe. We should have known that heralding 2020 as the, “Year of the Nurse,” was a telltale sign of things to come. Never have nurses been more in demand or more needed. Illumination Foundation is on the front lines in working to take care of as many vulnerable homeless clients as possible. Our goal is to intervene with this susceptible population and ensure they are sheltered, safe and protected. Diverting anyone unnecessarily from going to an Emergency room is our top priority.
With those goals in mind, we are hiring rapidly and immediately from all sources of nursing personnel, from nursing students to LVN’s. We have three areas of focus for any nursing professional who joins the Illumination Foundation team:
- Common health and wellness monitoring of clients for symptoms of illness
- Client procedural and follow-up responsibilities that require no direct contact
- Staff the 24/7 referral line with outlined protocols that help to determine what sites are most appropriate once a client is admitted to our care
We are focused on overall community health and preventing the spread of COVID-19 to a population that has weakened immunities and weakened spirits.
